Accra International Airport expansion includes new parking and hotel

Ghana Airports Company Limited plans to expand facilities at Accra International Airport. This project will add a new car park, retail areas, and an airport hotel.

The current car park at Terminal 3 holds 513 cars. This causes congestion. The new 7-storey car park will have 2,000 parking bays. Construction will start mid-year.

The expansion also includes 4,000 square metres of retail space. This will feature shops and restaurants. A sky-view lounge is also planned.

A new airport hotel will have two parts. One is a 250-room budget hotel. The other is a 120-room luxury hotel. This totals 370 new rooms. These rooms will serve passengers, especially those with delayed flights. Conference and business facilities are also part of the plan. This aims to make Accra International Airport a major aviation hub in the region.

This development is important for Ghana's infrastructure. It tackles current airport capacity issues. It also boosts economic activity through retail and hospitality. Modern airport facilities can attract more visitors and business. This supports growth in the tourism sector and related services.
