AGRA releases climate tools for Ghana agriculture
The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) has launched new climate vulnerability maps and a risk analysis toolkit. These tools are designed to help guide investments and interventions for maize and cassava in Ghana's agriculture sector. The initiative aims to strengthen responses to climate change and promote smart agriculture planning.
The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) has created climate vulnerability maps and a risk analysis toolkit. These tools will help direct investments and actions for maize and cassava crops in Ghana's farming sector. The goal is to make agriculture stronger against climate change.
Dr. Betty Simawua Annan, AGRA's Country Director for Ghana, said the toolkit will improve planning and investment for climate-smart agriculture. She stressed the need to include women's needs in these plans. This ensures a broad approach to adaptation.
AGRA is talking with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA). They want to make sure this work becomes part of national policy and is updated regularly. This will support evidence-based decisions for farming.
A brochure about vulnerability and gender inequality is also ready. It helps turn climate data into actions that include everyone. A draft policy brief is shared for feedback.
This initiative helps Ghana deal with climate change effects on key food crops. Better planning and targeted investments can protect farmers' livelihoods and food supply.
