The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) has introduced new tools for Ghana's agriculture sector. These are climate vulnerability maps and a risk analysis toolkit. The tools will help understand climate change effects on maize and cassava crops.
These tools aim to guide efforts to adapt to climate change and help with investments. Dr. Betty Simawua Annan, AGRA's Country Director in Ghana, said these tools will make planning for climate-smart agriculture better. They will also help make investment choices.
AGRA is working with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA). They plan to add this work into national policy. This will help keep the information updated and used across the country. A brochure on vulnerability and gender is also ready to make sure everyone benefits from climate change efforts.
The toolkit wants to strengthen responses to climate change. It will also promote smart farming decisions and investments. The high-resolution maps are expected to give strong support for planning and investment in climate-smart agriculture.
