Ahantaman Rural Bank has introduced a new digital banking platform. This platform has six different channels. It aims to make banking services easier to use for more people in rural Ghana.
This new system lets customers access banking services at any time. It includes a USSD service that works on all mobile phones, even without internet. Customers can do things like deposits, withdrawals, and transfers. There is also a new mobile app for smartphones. Merchants and mobile money sellers can use Merchant Pay. A QR code system allows instant payments. Businesses can use Corporate Pay for internet banking and payroll.
The bank reported strong performance for 2025. It expects its profit before tax to increase by close to 100%. This is after moving focus to direct lending in 2022. The bank also said that customer deposits grew strongly. Ahantaman Rural Bank has met the minimum capital requirement set by the Bank of Ghana. This positions it to become a leading community bank. It plans to offer fully digital account opening soon.
This move supports Ghana's goal of a less cash-dependent economy. It also helps build a strong digital financial system.
