The Anwelle Foundation has awarded a brand new Apsonic AP125-30 motorbike to cyclist Tiekan Joseph. Joseph completed a 525-kilometre bicycle journey from Yeji to Jirapa. This feat was part of efforts to promote this year’s Bong-ngo Festival. The award ceremony happened during the 2026 Bong-ngo celebrations.

Joseph, known as “Hero,” is a teacher from Yeji. He is also a native of Jirapa Nambeg. His journey took four days to complete. He aimed to boost awareness for the Bong-ngo Festival. He also wanted to encourage cycling as a healthy habit. His route included stops in Apesika, Tinga, and Sawla. Communities along the way showed him great admiration. His ride ended with a special welcome in Jirapa.

This initiative by the Anwelle Foundation fits into broader national conversations. Ghana is increasingly focused on youth development. Promoting healthy lifestyles is also a key goal. Frank Anwelle, the CEO of the Anwelle Foundation, presented the award. He was joined by the Paramount Chief of Jirapa, Naa Dinaa Donglabong Ganaa. Dignitaries like Upper West Regional Minister Charles Lwanga Puozuing attended. The MP for Jirapa, Cletus S. Dapilah, was also present. The Municipal Chief Executive for Jirapa, Peter N. To-ang, was there too. The Anwelle Foundation stated this award recognizes resilience and initiative. It aligns with their goal of youth empowerment. Muskila Motors added GHS 1,000 for fuel. This supports Joseph's travel needs.
