The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) Administrator, Paul Adjei, has issued a strong warning to contractors. He stated that those working on GETFund projects must deliver quality. If they do not, they will face penalties. This is to ensure that Ghana gets value for its money.
GETFund collects money mainly from a 2.5% VAT levy. This money is used to pay for education projects. These include building schools, providing teaching materials, and giving scholarships.
Mr. Adjei noted concerns about some recently finished projects not being up to standard. He urged contractors to focus on good work, not just making money. He said Ghanaian taxpayers deserve quality for their money.
To make sure projects are good, GETFund has created a special monitoring team. This team will check all GETFund projects across the country. They will make sure projects follow the plans and meet quality rules. Contractors who do not meet these rules will face actions.
Mr. Adjei also spoke about the GETFund Scholarship Scheme. He said it is open to all Ghanaians, especially students from rural areas. He promised changes to make the scholarship process fair for everyone. Also, a new Corporate Affairs Department will help share information and talk to the public about GETFund's work.
