Ghana launches digital land mapping project with 67% fund allocation

Ghana’s government is starting a big project. It will create digital maps for the whole country. This plan is to make how land is managed much better. It will make things clearer and fix old problems. Mr. Jones Ofori Boadu from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources announced this. A new office, the Land Banks and Digitisation Secretariat, will manage this work. This office will create new digital maps. It will also turn old paper land records into digital ones. It will make land services closer to people and make processing land titles faster.

The Ministry of Finance has said that the Lands Commission can keep 100% of the money it earns. Of this, 67% will go directly to the digital land project. This money will help make good base maps fast. It will also help build a modern system for land information. Local surveyors will do much of the technical work on the ground. They need to get ready with new skills and equipment.

Ghana’s land system has faced problems for a long time. These include unclear land borders, not enough transparency, worries for investors, and slow registration processes. Many land cases are in court. The government thinks digital maps and digital records will greatly cut down on arguments about land. It will also make people have more faith in how land is managed.
