Ghana's inflation rate reaches 3.2% in March

Ghana’s annual inflation rate fell to 3.2% in March 2026. This is a slight drop from 3.3% recorded in February. This marks the 15th month in a row that inflation has gone down. It is also a significant fall from 22.4% in March 2025.

Government Statistician Alhassan Iddrisu said this is the lowest inflation rate since 2021. This shows the country is returning to stable prices. Food prices are the main reason for this drop. However, prices for non-food items are still going up a little.

Month-on-month, prices increased by 0.1% between February and March. This means some price pressures still exist. Food inflation was 2.3% in March, down from 2.4%. Food prices dropped by 0.3% in one month. Non-food inflation eased to 3.9%, but prices in this area rose by 0.3% monthly.

Goods inflation dropped sharply to 1.7% from 3.2% in February. Goods prices fell by 1.0% in one month. This was a key reason for the overall inflation drop. Services inflation, however, rose to 7.2% from 3.7%. This shows that services could become a new inflation risk.

Inflation for locally made items went up to 4.9% from 4.5%. But imported inflation was negative at -0.6%. This suggests external prices are easing. Some regions have higher inflation. The North East Region has the highest. The Savannah Region had a deflation of -4.6%. This shows differences in pricing across the country.

These figures show Ghana is slowly recovering from its past economic problems. Lower inflation should help people buy more and make businesses more confident.
