Judiciary to speed up business cases for clearer investment
Ghana's Chief Justice has stated that an efficient and trustworthy legal system is key to economic growth. He says court delays and uncertain contract enforcement scare away investors. The Judiciary will now actively work to create a business-friendly environment by ensuring fast and fair resolution of commercial disputes.
Ghana's Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie says the Judiciary will no longer stay in the background. It will now be a key part of Ghana's economic plan.
Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum, Baffoe-Bonnie said that quick and fair court rulings are not just legal matters. They are very important for the economy. Ghana needs to attract and keep high-value investments. For this to happen, courts must resolve business disagreements clearly and without delay.
The Chief Justice noted that businesses need more than just money and good ideas. They need trust. This trust comes from a reliable court system. It ensures that contracts are kept, property is safe, and arguments are settled fairly and quickly.
He believes that when justice is slow, it hurts the economy. If businesses are not sure that rules will be followed, it stops money from coming into the country. This then slows down growth.
The Chief Justice said his team has decided to help Ghana's development. He wants the legal system to support business by being fair and clear. This will make sure that the rule of law helps businesses grow and protects their money.
