Kaneshie footbridge repair to take 9 months

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced that repairs on the Kaneshie footbridge will take six to nine months. The bridge was closed on April 2 due to its poor state. This is the first main repair since the bridge was built.

The work is part of a bigger plan to improve roads in the area. It will also include fixing drains. Some roads will close during this time. The AMA expects the bridge to be fully working again after the repairs. This will make it safer for people walking and using the bridge every day.

Gilbert Nii Ankrah, an AMA official, stated that the project size shows how bad the bridge was. He added that the repairs should make the bridge strong enough to last more than ten years.
