Ghana's government is setting up a major industrial park in Kwahu. This will be a Food and Beverages Industrial Park. It is a key part of the new 24-Hour Economy Policy. The goal is to make Kwahu a big center for making things. Presidential Advisor Goosie Tanoh announced this.
This plan aims to make factories run for 24 hours. This means factories can have three work shifts. This could triple how much they produce. The policy also wants to create many jobs for young people in the Eastern Region. It will use better power and roads to help companies work non-stop.
The government is talking to international investors. These investors will provide money for the park. Yet, local businesses are worried about high interest rates. They also find it hard to get loans.
Former Finance Minister Seth Terkper said businesses should look beyond bank loans. He suggested using the stock market or issuing bonds. This would help them get the money they need to grow. Ghana Investment Promotion Centre CEO Simon Madjie noted Kwahu has more potential. He mentioned food processing, eco-tourism, and cold storage for food.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah said President Mahama wants to shift the economy. The focus will move from buying goods to making goods. He said manufacturing is key to job creation and economic strength. Kwahu will play a big role in Ghana's industrial future.
