Ministry halts sachet water price rise

Ghana's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Agribusiness has stopped a planned increase in sachet water prices. This decision followed discussions with the Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA) and the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP).

NASPAWAP had announced a price hike for April 2, citing rising production costs. These costs were linked to problems in global supply chains. The Ministry stated that consumers will continue to buy sachet water at current prices.

The Ministry praised the industry groups for pausing the price change. This pause was meant to take effect on Monday, April 6, 2026. The Ministry noted that the decision shows effort to protect consumers and keep the market stable. It also said it will keep working with trade associations to handle industry issues and maintain steady prices.
