Seplat Energy resumes after worker strike ends

Seplat Energy, Nigeria's largest independent oil and gas producer, has resumed its operations. This follows the suspension of a worker strike. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) halted the action after Seplat agreed to written commitments on pay increases.

The strike began when wage talks stalled on Friday. This created concerns about Nigeria's oil and gas production. Nigeria seeks to maximize its output amid rising global oil prices.

PENGASSAN confirmed that negotiations will continue. They aim to finalize a collective bargaining agreement by April 13.

Seplat Energy targets an output of up to 155,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) this year. This is an increase from an average of 131,506 boepd last year. The company also remains a main supplier of gas to Nigeria's power market.
