VIP Transport adjusts fares due to rising costs

VIP Jeoun Transport has announced an increase in its transport fares. The company explained this decision is due to rising operational costs.

Key factors include higher fuel prices and increased costs for spare parts. Bad road conditions on major routes, especially the Accra-Kumasi highway, also contribute. These poor roads lead to longer travel times, which means more fuel use and higher maintenance needs.

The Managing Director, Adakabre Frimpong Manso, stated that VIP is a private company. It operates without being tied to transport union decisions. The company had delayed the fare increase earlier after talks with government officials. However, they confirmed that price reductions are not possible given current economic conditions.

Passengers have voiced concerns about the timing of the fare increase. They noted it adds pressure to household budgets already strained by rising living costs.
