Volta and Oti Power Crisis to End AGI Welcomes Repair Plan

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has welcomed the government's efforts to fix the power crisis in the Volta and Oti regions. The plan includes upgrading damaged transmission lines with higher voltage cables. This will improve the amount of power sent from GRIDCO to ECG for distribution.

Dela Gbeve, the AGI Chairman for Volta, Oti, and Eastern Regions, stated that the current power shortages have hurt businesses. Small and medium-sized businesses, which rely on electricity, have reported large production losses. Unstable power supply, especially during peak hours, has made it hard for them to operate.

Residents in these regions have faced frequent power cuts because the electricity supply capacity has not kept pace with population growth. The AGI hopes the repair project will be finished within one year. This will provide stable power for machinery and support continuous production for industries.
